A country-like name in italics - like Ascension Island - is not a country, being a former country, part of a country, unpopulated (no permanent resident community) or a statistical convenience.

Please ensure that you use Capital letters like AU - 2-letter sequences of the form capital/small (like Au) are reserved for other purposes (chemical symbols, in fact).

Country codes are defined by the international standard ISO 3166. These codes are also the ones used for URLs - top-level domains in the World Wide Web.
