The ''Open University of Malaysia'' (OUM) was established in August 2000 by a consortium of 11 public universities in [[Malaysia]]. Although incorporated as a private university, the University 'leverages on the quality, prestige and capabilities of its strategic partners'. Its open and distance learning (ODL) mode targets at working adults with lifelong learning aspirations.
