Lakshadweep is a group of islands and a union territory off the south-western coast of India. It consists of twelve atolls, three reefs and five submerged banks, with a total of about thirty-nine islands and islets. Ten of the islands are inhabited.
The 2011 census records a population of 64,429. The capital is Kavaratti, and the largest city is Andrott.
