The Re.ViCa wiki has been set-up to provide an inventory and to show the results of a systematic  review of Virtual Campus initiatives of the past  decade within higher education throughout the world. In this wiki you will find a list of more than 300 interesting Programmes, all of which  have been categorised. All programmes are listed  based on the interesting or innovative eLearning approach they have taken. We have listed a significant number of relevant initiatives varying greatly in terms of size, type of student, country of origin etc. You will also find Country reports, describing the educational context and ways in which decision-makers in these countries have taken steps to address changes brought about due to the emergence of the Information Society. The wiki also contains 6 in-depth Institutional reports and a large number of related Resources. We have collected and described relevant research projects, outputs, publications and provide a list of experts in the field of Virtual Campuses. Some pages are protected, but most are open and await your contributions.Do you know an interesting Virtual Campus or you want to provide information about your country? Please log in and help us to sustain this wiki, as a large and dynamic inventory of Virtual Campuses!

The idea in 2008 behind the original wiki was to create an open and public space where researchers could share information about virtual developments in various different educational sectors. It was supported and maintained during 2009-2015 by a community of researchers from EU and beyond and was aimed at stakeholders, researchers and practitioners who wanted to have easy access to the latest information about how the virtual phenomenon is manifesting itself in schools, colleges and universities around the world. You will therefore find much of this legacy information in the wiki. The wiki is now being updated in all its aspects, focussing initially on OER initiatives, OER policies and virtual schools.

This wiki is a work in progress. Many of the  judgements that are made about institutions and  projects are at this stage tentative and subject  to further analysis by the project with the help of the International Advisory Committee - and may be found challenging by some readers. The Re.ViCa team conduct its research on Virtual Campuses along a broad range of parameters. We looked at former initiatives, research projects and the project consortium expertise. Most information is validated by the numerous discussion sessions that Re.ViCa team have organised with different stakeholder groups throughout the project. Information on individuals is as far as possible collected from public sources and written in "curriculum vitae" fashion, focussing on their strengths and abilities and not on irrelevant personal information.

If any individual feels that information about them requires correction then it is within the spirit of the wiki approach for them to do that for their own entry.

This summer and autumn (Northern Hemisphere) there is a big push on virtual schools, getting more coordinates and adding infoboxes to entries so that they can be dynamically mapped.

We are also looking for collaborators to load large amounts of other legacy material on OER.

See in particular our samples of material from the former OER World Map.
