Minor changes to layout of wiki pages - 20 July 2023
As part of the preparation for a substantial upgrade of the functionality in the Open Education Wiki this August, some experiments are being carried out on the live system to make the context and the copyright situation clearer.
These involve editing pages in the MediaWiki and Virtual Education Wiki namespaces.
So far, users may notice:
- a new header banner "Welcome to the Virtual Education Wiki ~ Open Education Wiki"
- Revised footer entries for Privacy policy, now called Creative Commons 4.0, and the About page, which currently says "About Virtual Education Wiki ~ Open Education Wiki"
There are also behind-the-scenes modifications to:
- key System Messages for Login, Logout and Request account
- a series of investigations on modifyging the Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) that control many parts of the wiki layout.
There is nothing to be concerned about. The main operational impact is that requests from new users who ask to register will not be processed. This is because they are being swamped by a torrent of spam registrations. A new registration process for qualified users will be rolled out shortly.
