Since January 2010, Prof Herman van der Merwe is Executive Dean at the North-West University in South Africa, of the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Information Technology of the Vaal Triangle Campus.
Prior to this appointment, he was Director of the Department of Telematic Education at Tshwane University of Technology, and has held various positions at the University of Pretoria for over 19 years: firstly as lecturer in the Department of Genetics and later as part of the management team in the newly established Telematics and Learning Innovation department.
