Pierre-Yves Burgi is in charge of the Information, Communication, and Educational Technology (ICET) Unit of the IT Division of the University of Geneva. The activities of this unit include technological aspects to develop and support eLearning, multimedia, digital library, and web infrastructures. Pierre-Yves Burgi received the B.S. degree in computer engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne, Switzerland, in 1986, and the Ph.D. degree in computer science from the University of Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland, in 1992. His doctoral studies were followed by a five-year post-doctoral period in visual neurosciences with the Smith-Kettlewell Eye Research Institute, San Francisco, CA, and with the Paul Sabatier University, Toulouse, France. From 1997 to May 2003, he was with the Advanced Microelectronics Division of the Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology, Neuchatel, Switzerland, where he conducted research on time-domain processing of visual information for the development of fast silicon vision systems. Since June 2003, he has headed the ICET unit, University of Geneva.
