University of Portsmouth
The University of Portsmouth (Portsmouth, UoP) supports distance and e-learning through its WebCT VLE called Victory.
The Portsmouth and Gosport School of Science and Art was founded in 1869 and UoP gained university status in 1992. Its mission is to aim for excellence in the creation, interpretation and communication of knowledge and achieve this by aiming to:
- provide our students with an educational environment in which all students can fulfil their academic potential and follow a high quality programme
- provide our students with opportunities to develop the skills and personal qualities that can bring them success in employment
- value students’ views of their experience at the University and use this information to help us review our programmes and make improvements to the University and its work

The institution’s main office is in Hampshire, UK.
UoP supports part-time and flexible courses besides its regular degrees and courses. 5,000 part-time students are already aprt of the UoP community. Courses range from undergraduate to postgraduate degrees.
The University of Portsmouth offers distance/online learning in a flexible learning environment to students that are learning at work, online or with the international partners. The latter entails enabling students “to attend collaborative institutions in Singapore, Malaysia and London to achieve degrees accredited by the University of Portsmouth.” Extra information regarding materials for distance learners is located here: http://www.port.ac.uk/library/distance/
UoP’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) is called Victory, is based on WebCT and can be accessed through https://victory.port.ac.uk/webct/entryPageIns.dowebct
The student portal that is targeted at all students can be found at https://webapps.port.ac.uk/students/home.jsp
UoP makes use of the Google Apps Package which gives all students access to Google’s Calendar, Documents, Sites and Talk within the “University of Portsmouth” Google environment.
