The University of New England (UNE), US, offers online certificate and degree programmes through its Department of Education and its College of Osteopathic Medicine. UNE seeks to offer both traditional and nontraditional students an 'alternative to the traditional classroom'.

The University of New England has campuses in Portland and Biddeford, Maine, US. UNE had a total of 3,792 students enrolled in 2007, primarily in face-to-face courses; this figure includes 1,893 full-time undergraduates, 247 part-time undergraduates, 506 medical students, 766 full-time graduate students, and 380 part-time graduate students. 551 students were enrolled in a nursing completion program in Israel; 792 took 'Individual Video Courses' through the Education Department, and 197 were enrolled in the College of Osteopathic Medicine Distance Education Courses. The University of New England employs more than 645 faculty and staff.
