The University of New Brunswick is a university located in the province of New Brunswick, Canada. It is the oldest English language university in Canada and was the first public university in North America. The university has two main campuses: the original campus founded in 1785 in Fredericton and a smaller campus which was opened in Saint John in 1964. In addition, there are two small satellite health sciences campuses located in Moncton and Bathurst, New Brunswick.

The University offers over 60 degrees at the undergraduate and graduate levels with a total student enrollment of approximately 12,000 between the two principal campuses.

Distance learning is facilitated via the College of Extended Learning. In particular, online courses at the College of Extended Learning are offered through the Open Access Learning Program - a self-paced, guided independent study programme, designed to offer academic courses and services to individuals who wish to continue their formal education, but who currently are not served by conventional classroom-based courses.

The University of New Brunswick is a member of the Canadian Virtual University - a partnership of Canadian universities that have combined their resources and distance education offerings to provide students with more options for degree credit courses, programmes, and degrees.
