Universidad de Playa Ancha

The Universidad de Playa Ancha (Playa Ancha University, UPLA) supports distance learning and recently also blended learning. The Universidad de Playa Ancha was stablished in 1948 in Chile. Its bachelor programs are related to the fields of Art and culture, social sciences, teaching, technology and health. Is the third largest university in the region.

The Universidad de Playa Ancha offers 24 bachelor degrees for the 8,000 students. The university has been working for nearly 20 years on an distance learning-based educational project. From the year 2009 the university is undergoing a shift towards virtual education with completely new distance programs, as well, with strong support for the undergraduate programs in blended learning so take advantage of the benefits of e-learning and face to face, combined in a format that streamlines the work of both the trainer and the student. They use the platform moodle.

The Directorate of Special Programs and Technical Assistance has the responsibility to train professionals, specialize them, train them, and to develop and advice people and organizations that cannot access higher education on an absolutely face-to-face counseling.
