The UNESCO Cathedra in Distance Education (Cátedra UNESCO de educación a distancia,CUED),under-UNED UNESCO convention Cathedra on the establishment of the UNESCO on Distance Education, are part of it all those teachers, researchers and students to collaborate in various training programs, information, documentation and research to develop it.

Goal of the cathedra:

  • Leveraging high-level training in Spain and Latin America of professionals interested in knowing, understanding and applying the specific nature of the systems of education and open learning and distance from the theoretical, technological and practical issues.
  • Implement, through the Internet, the Iberian-American center of resources of distance education (CIREAD) documentary and reference information for Spanish-speaking countries and Portuguese.
  • Coordinates a network of scholars of Distance Education in American (REEDI) in order to share knowledge and research.
  • Participate in the planned service UNED advice for Distance Education, to the area of Latin America.
  • Participate Telematics Networking to Latin America to design the activities of the cathedra.

There are two important initiatives in this program called PubliREEDI and PubliCUED. The objectives of these initiatives are:

  • Exchange work and studies about distance education.
  • Offering documents which, after reading them, these provide arguments for intervening in the CVB-ForumCUED to each field or area is organized.
