The University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) is a public higher education and research institution, formally created in 1982, although it did not start its activity until 1985. This young institution, which has recently celebrated its twentieth anniversary, is an indisputable backbone of the region in which it is located, a region covering almost 80,000 square kilometers. UCLM is structured into four university campuses located in Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cuenca and Toledo, which explains the significant technological development of UCLM, a pioneer in the adaptation of new information technologies and communications in the university context. These four locations are home to 35 educational centers and 30 research centers and institutes, which in turn offer 54 degree courses, 73 Masters, specialist and expert courses, and 41 doctorate courses. The University currently has 27,000 students, an academic and research staff of 2,100, over 1000 administration and service professionals, and a huge projection in the process of constructing the European Space for Higher Education.
