Ryerson University offers part-time distance education and certificates through its Chang School of Continuing Education, with over 65,400 annual enrollments.

Ryerson University is a public research university located in downtown Toronto, Canada. It has 24,000 full-time students and offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degree programs. The university offers many specialised programs which are unique in Canada across its five faculties.

The Ryerson Institute of Technology was founded in 1948 and its name was changed in 1966 to Ryerson Polytechnical Institute. It became a university-degree granting institution in 1971.

Chang School of Continuing Education

The G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education is considered to be Canada's leading provider of university-based adult education, with over 67,700 enrollments in 2007-2008. The Chang School offers over 1,100 courses and over 75 career-related certificates, and a wide range of distance education options (e.g. in Arts, Sciences, Technology, etc.).

Some courses can be used for credit at Ryerson and other institutions, but there not distance degree programs per se. Numerous certificates are available.

Per the Ryerson/Chang Distance Education web site, distance courses are available via online and classroom/internet learning. Through a partnership with the Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN), Chang has also recently started offering certain courses via videoconference.
