The Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design (RMCAD) is in Lakewood, a suburb of Denver, Colorado, USA. The college was founded in 1963 by an artist and teacher.

RMCAD is a four-year, fully accredited college, with majors in Game Art, Communications Design, Animation, Interior Design, Illustration, Art Education, and Fine Arts, with concentrations in Photography + Video Art, Sculpture, and Painting. Beginning in Fall 2010, RMCAD also offers online programs in 3D Animation and Interior Design.

RMCAD's Interior Design department includes a Green Design area of emphasis, the first accredited program of its kind.

RMCAD's campus contains eighteen historical buildings built in a variety of 20th-century architectural styles. The campus is the former site of the Jewish Consumptives' Relief Society (JCRS), included in the National Register of Historic Places listings in Jefferson County, Colorado.

Special learning facilities include a woodshop, ceramics studio, photography lab, professional sound studio, 283-seat auditorium, 35-seat audiovisual theater, large meeting rooms, and a Library/Resource Center.

Its web site is at http://www.rmcad.edu

e-learning (online programs, distance learning)

RMCAD is the only private college in Colorado to be accredited by both NASAD and HLC, offering campus, hybrid and online programs in art and design.

Our online BFA programs are designed for working professionals and other students seeking to advance their education and career potential, without attending campus classes. We’ve taken our 48 years of experience in the art and design world and created an innovative, interactive and dynamic online environment to inspire tomorrow’s creative professionals.

Online learning allows you to adapt your educational experience to fit your lifestyle. Whether you have other responsibilities to work around, or you simply work better in the middle of the night, our online courses offer a flexible schedule you can tailor to suit your needs. Technological innovations have allowed us to remove the barriers of time and distance, which until now may have been preventing you from achieving your goals and pursuing the career of your dreams.

"A Unique Approach to Online Learning"

Learning at RMCAD has always focused on community, collaboration, innovation and individualized attention. We’ve built these philosophies into the design of our online courses as well as into the culture of our faculty and staff.

The same faculty who teach on-campus courses also develop and teach RMCAD’s online courses. Our faculty are certified in online teaching and course design, and are supported by a professional team of instructional designers and media developers. The synergies among the entire RMCAD team have inspired us to bring the campus experience to you.

High school programmes

RCMAD also offers courses to students at high school who are serious about art - both Wednesday Night Workshops or Summer Camps - but interestingly, no online programmes.

Taught by professional artists and designers, many of whom are part of the RMCAD faculty, these classes, workshops and camps can help students:

  • get an early look at what college life is like
  • build a student's portfolio in preparation for applying to an art & design college
  • give students ideas about how they can bring their artwork to the next level
  • meet other talented young artists from the Denver region and around the country
