Rhode Island

The State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, or Rhode Island, is a state in the New England region of the north-eastern United States. The smallest US state by area, it borders Massachusetts to the north and east, Connecticut to the west and shares a water boundary with New York's Long Island to the southwest.

The population of Rhode Island is just over 1 million as of 2010. The state capital and largest city is Providence. Rhode Island is known as the Ocean State.
