Nikki Cortoos works at ATiT.

Educated as a Masters in Communication-Multimedia Design, Nikki has been responsible for multimedia-developments such as an online video workshop for VideoAktiv.org in 2006. She has additionally co-coordinated the online programme for the Kaleidoscope Symposium 2007 and assisted with the dissemination of this international event of this Network of Excellence in Technology Enhanced Learning. She is part of the organising committee of the MEDEA Awards, a unique European competition to encourage innovation and good practice in the use of media in education. She is currently responsible for the Secretariat of these MEDEA Awards, the creation and maintenance of the associated website and is in regular contact with supporting partners, media partners and participants.

In 2008 Nikki Cortoos also started working in the EduTubePlus project in which she and her colleagues offered their experience on training services (for UGOV production), their expertise on video-based learning & audiovisual technologies and dissemination activities. For this project she and Peter Andries were responsible for creating an online repository with training materials for schools, teachers and pupils to create or adapt their own video resources.

In 2008 she received a teacher’s degree to teach and train (among other subjects and training areas) multimedia production skills in secondary schools and Further Education institutions.

From the end of 2008 to the beginning of 2009 she also maintained the web site for the virtual Women's Dialogue initiative, subtitled "Uncovering Barriers to Women's Political Leadership", leading to the International Colloquium for Women's Empowerment, Leadership Development, International Peace & Security Conference in Liberia in March 2009.

In ATiT, her tasks differ from video-editing, writing for proposals, webdesign and development, training, graphic design, DVD-production to communicating with project teams where ATiT is partner or project coordinating partner. She also assists with the coordination and logistical planning of international events such as workshops and conferences.

For the research and work on this wiki through the Re.ViCa project, Nikki Cortoos, together with Sally Reynolds, worked on the case study for Hibernia College in Ireland and several country reports such as Belgium (together with AVNet), Czech Republic, Denmark, Kenya and South Africa. Furthermore they are both responsible for the awareness raising and promotion of the Re.ViCa research progress and wiki, for which they also established the International Advisory Committee.


VISCED

Nikki is also involved in VISCED. For the VISCED project, Nikki will be working with Sally Reynolds on updating their Re.ViCa countries as well as some new countries.
