Masaryk University
The Masaryk University (Masarykova univerzita, MU) supports e-learning through its e-learning portal and information sources. It is the second-largest public university in the Czech Republic and the leading higher education institution in the Moravia region.
The institution’s main office is in Brno, Czech Republic. Other campuses are mainly located here as well, besides the University Centre Telč, which is in Telč.
Masaryk University had 38989 students in 2007 according to their own web site, with 18216 students in lifelong learning.
“To improve access to information and the quality of studies it has developed its own intranet system featuring a number of tools designed for assessing tens of thousands of application forms for studies, implementing e-learning, registering students for examinations, helping staff to work more efficiently and supporting rapid communication between offices and departments. In 2005 Masaryk University’s information system received the prestigious EUNIS Elite Award in recognition of the university’s leading position in the use of information technology within the university community.”
The MU also has a Support Centre for Students with Special Needs, a special-purpose institution of MU with public activities.

This Czech presentation summarises experiences with the creation and the tuition of e-learning's information literacy cources at Masaryk University.
