MarylandOnline supports online and distance learning in the state of Maryland, US.

The mission statement on its web site declares:

MarylandOnline will advance Maryland as a world leader in distance learning.
MarylandOnline is a statewide, inter-segmental consortium, dedicated to championing distance learning in Maryland. Through collaboration among Maryland community colleges, colleges, and universities, MarylandOnline facilitates students' access to articulated courses, certificates, and degree programs offered via distance; and promotes excellence in Web-based learning in the physical as well as in the virtual classroom. With strategic partners, MarylandOnline enhances the quality and availability of higher education for the citizens and employers of Maryland and for students worldwide.

Certificates, undergraduate and postgraduate degrees are available from various Maryland institutions. Degrees are awarded not by MarylandOnline directly, but by the university offering a chosen course. More than 20 institutions participate, including the University of Baltimore, the University of Maryland University College, and Community College, and Howard Community College (to name but a few).

A recent WCET report notes that, for fiscal year '08 (July 1, 2007 through June 20, 2008), the total enrollments in credit-bearing courses by students in MarylandOnline institutions was 222,440.
