The Lycée Français International (French International School of Antwerp) is a private school located in Antwerp, Belgium.

It does not provide distance education as far as we can see, but it is special given that the Belgian-based school follows the French curriculum and evaluation as it has a covenant with the French National Education Ministry and pupils graduating from secondary school receive the French degree « baccalauréat ».

The school is part of a network of 460 French schools located worldwide that are placed under the pedagogical supervision of the Agency for French Education Abroad (l'Agence pour l'Enseignement Français à l'Étranger or AEFE).

The Lycée Français International in Antwerp web site is at http://www.lfanvers.be.

More Details

The schools’ pupils represent close to twenty nationalities, and they can be French-speaking children of families who are staying in Belgium for a longer period of time (for example expatriates) as well as Flemish children whose parents wish to give them a bilingual education.

With regard to the teaching language(s) in the school, the school recently started to diversify its offer:

  • 2010: the creation of a bilingual French/English section in nursery school
  • September 2011:
    • a bilingual French/English section in primary school
    • a French/Flemish class in the first year of primary school

The AEFE network is subsidised by the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs (MAEE) and is recognised as a private school by the Flemish Ministry of Education. The Lycée Français International requests school fees ranging between 2050 euros and 8020 euros per child, according to how many children per family enrol and in which level.
