Louisiana Board of Regents
The Louisiana Board of Regents supports online and technology-supported education.
Its distance learning initiatives and policies seek to:
- ...increase access to educational opportunities and to ensure quality of instruction through distance education to place- and time-bound students; enhance campuses= abilities to respond to learner needs; increase educational opportunities and encourage linkages between Louisiana educational institutions and other sectors including business, government, and the surrounding community; provide cost-effective service through cooperative development; invest in and support the development of a telecommunications infrastructure; and minimize and streamline policies for reviewing and approving flexible degree programs offered through distance education technology.
Over 100,000 students are served annually.
Via its Statewide E-Learning Support Center (SELSC), the Board's Office of Information & Learning Technology (OILT) supports

- Other Collaboration Tools
- Statewide, Moodle-based Learning Management System
- Research and Development Labs (Technology Preview Center)
Per the OILT web site, OILT is the state partner and coordinator for several national e-learning organizations.

The Louisiana Board of Regents is a government agency in the U.S. state of Louisiana that is responsible for coordination of all public higher education in the state. As noted on the Regents' web site, "Louisiana Constitution authorizes the Board of Regents to plan, coordinate, and have budgetary responsibility for Louisiana’s public higher education community, including 19 public colleges, universities, and/or professional schools."
