Distance Education Study Centre

The Distance Education Study Centre (DESC) of Riga Technical University (RTU) in Latvia was founded in the frame of PHARE Multi-country Cooperation in Distance Education project.

The Centre is a structural unit of RTU and was founded in 1997 with the decision of RTU Senate.

The objective of the Centre is to develop distance education in Latvia, using up-to–date Distance education principles and advantages of modern technologies.

The working area of the Centre is to organize the development and adoption of distance learning courses, as well as the delivery of the courses, involving the academic staff from RTU and other higher education establishments.

The Centre is located besides the Latvia Distance education Contact Point which ensures close collaboration between the Centre and Contact Point.
