North Dakota Center for Distance Education
The North Dakota Center for Distance Education (ND CDE) offers online middle school and online high school distance learning classes. It is located in the US state of North Dakota. Courses are available in both digital and print formats at all levels.
In 2009-10 the program had 2,350 online course enrollments, a decrease of 3% from the prior year. 1,650 of those enrollments were out-of-state.
The Center is a partially state-funded (20%), supplemental program launched in fall 1996 (ND CDE is a reorganization of the North Dakota Division of Independent Study). It serves middle and high school students with self-paced and scheduled courses. The Center is funded via state appropriation and course fees. Local school districts must approve enrollment of local students and determine who provides the course fee — student or school. Homeschool students must pay tuition to participate in ND CDE courses.
