North-West University (NWU) is the result of a merger between University of North-West and the Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education, South Africa.
In 2008, the NWU was the sixth largest university in the country, with approximately 52,000 students enrolled at all three campuses. Some 24,000 of these students were distance learning students.
