North-West University (NWU) supports online education. The university is the result of a merger between University of North-West and the Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education, South Africa.

In 2008, the NWU was the sixth largest university in the country, with approximately 52,000 students enrolled at all three campuses. Some 24,000 of these students were distance learning students.

The North-West University has campuses spread across two provinces, i.e. the North-West and Gauteng. The campuses in Mafikeng (with its satellite site in Mankwe), Potchefstroom and the Vanderbijlpark operate as business units with specific programmes.

The NWU web site is at http://www.nwu.ac.za/
