Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) was opened on April 1st, 2000, in Beppu City, Oita Prefecture. Founded on a vision of freedom, peace and humanity, international mutual understanding, and the future of the Asia-Pacific region, APU is dedicated to cultivating global human resources to lead the harmonious and sustainable development of the Asia-Pacific. APU is comprised of four schools, two undergraduate and two graduate: the College of Asia Pacific Studies and the College of Asia Pacific Management, and the Graduate School of Asia Pacific Studies and the Graduate School of Management. 2100 International students from over 70 countries and regions constitute half of the APU student population, and make APU the vibrant multicultural environment it is today.
