The Armenian E-Learning Network, ArmeLNet, was founded in 2010 as a joint initiative of eight educational organisations in Armenia. It currently consists of 18 member-organisations (public and private training and educational institutions). The basis of the Network is a Memorandum for Understanding and Cooperation. The initiative stems from the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) programme Institutional Building and Human Resource Development in E-Learning in the South Caucasus.

The ArmeLNet mission was designed by its members and highlights short- and long-term development goals. The ArmeLNet objective is to promote E-learning to the educational landscape while supporting member organisations in developing and deploying e-learning activities. Quality assurance of courses and modules is ensured by the Caucasus E-Learning Quality Assessment tool.

The unique ArmeLNet structure of (full) membership together with open participation was designed and implemented by way of the Mission Paper. It is designated for all interested parties, individuals and organisations alike. The learning management system is accessible at http://www.elearning.am. Its focus is the sustainable development of ArmeLNet processes and activities.
