Education takes place also over the telephone, by email and online through Moodle (see http://www.sydneyh-d.schools.nsw.edu.au/moodle/), and students are also engaged through videoconferencing, webconferencing, student online forums, study days, open days, excursions, peer support activities and teacher visits to schools and homes.

In 2011, 1478 students enrolled (fulltime equivalent student numbers are 820 by September 2011). SDEHS employs 200 fulltime and part time staff.
