Assam is a state in the north-eastern region of India. One of the Seven Sister States, it shares a border with the other six: Arunachal Pradesh to the north and north-east, Nagaland to the east, Manipur to the south-east, Mizoram to the south, Tripura to the south-west and Meghalaya to the west. Assam also borders Bangladesh to the south-east, and Bhutan to the north.
