The Japanese Cyber University (Saibā Daigaku, CU) supports fully online bachelor's degree education.
Established in 2006, it is Japan’s first four-year online university. It is operated mainly by Japan Cyber Educational Institute Ltd., a subsidiary of leading Japanese Internet firm Softbank Corporation.
When opened in 2007 the university had two departments – information technology and world heritage – each enrolling about 600 students.
Although the university was met with much English-language interest on launch, it is hard to find subsequent coverage of the university's first few years of operation. The Cyber University web site in particular offers little English-language information.
The university's main office is in Fukuoka, Japan.
