The KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Kungliga Tekniska högskolan, or just KTH) announced in June 2009 that it had made a formal decision to launch a "KTH Virtual Campus", with details to be confirmed in the near future. It will have an identical board as the KTH Resource Centre for Netbased Education (RCN), which presently organises and oversees delivery of internet courses for the university. The RCN has served thousands of students.

KTH is a university in Stockholm, Sweden. It was founded in 1827 as Sweden's first polytechnic, and is one of Scandinavia's largest institutions of higher education. Some consider it one of the leading technical universities in Europe.

In 2008 there were roughly 13,000 students registered at KTH.
