The Web Based Health Organisations Learning Environment Project (WHOLE) was funded from 2007 under the Erasmus Virtual Campuses project, as 134301-LLP-1-2007-1-DE-ERASMUS-EVC.

The overall aim of the WHOLE project is to develop and consolidate a European Virtual Academy of Innovation in Health.

According to the official project pamphlet cited below, the main expected project results are:

• A European Master's degree for intercultural and societal healthcare studies, • A report on “Professional development goals and ICT in the transformation of the healthcare sector”, • An operational European virtual academy and Virtual learning environment, and • A white paper, “Towards a European framework for collaboration and innovation in public health”.

The virtual learning environment is expected to include learning resources repositories, learners’ management facilities, virtual communities and other social software facilities.
