Overview
Saxony-Anhalt (German:Sachsen-Anhalt) is one of the 16 states of Germany. It has an area of 20,447 square kilometres (7,895 sq mi) and a population of 2,259,393 (but it was more than 2.8 million in 1990). Its capital is Magdeburg, but Halle is the largest city.
