D-Teach was founded by Lieselot Declercq while she was attending her studies in educational sciences at Ghent University. Lieselot was encouraged to launch her idea with the concept ‘Durf Ondernemen’ of Ghent University. D-Teach officially started in 2012 as a novel concept in Belgium. D-Teach is the first service in Belgium which helps Belgian expats with international educational advice and offers distance teaching.

Lieselot Declercq is owner en coordinator of D-Teach. She holds a master degree in Educational Sciences from the Open University in the Netherlands and a Master in Learning Sciences from Ghent University. Lieselot also has a professional marketing certification from Ghent University. Dutch is her native language, and she is proficient in French and English, and has basic knowledge of Portuguese.

Lieselot Declercq has over 5 years of experience as a primary school teacher and more than 5 years of experience in online teaching and educational management. Lieselot has done 2 years of educational research about teachers evaluation at Ghent University. The last 3 years, Lieselot was project coordinator for the strategic project ‘Blended Learning’ at Ghent University. More information via this link. Lieselot had to give didactical support to professors who wanted to start with blended/online learning and started a blended learning community. She participated as member of UGent in the blended learning reflection group of the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and Arts (KVAB) – Edition: Higher Education in the digital era (2015). Together with the blended learning team, Lieselot organized a symposium about blended learning for UGent to dessiminate the results of the Blended Learning project.
