North Africa comprises the seven countries:

  1. Algeria
  2. Egypt
  3. Libya
  4. Morocco
  5. Sudan
  6. Tunisia
  7. Western Sahara.

We also include the autonomous part of Western Sahara called Sahrawi.

The term is used in the precise UN sense (not the wider geographical sense) as described at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_Africa

Not included are:

  1. The Spanish exclaves of Ceuta and Mellila on the Mediterranean coast but surrounded by Morocco
  2. The Spanish Canary Islands and Portuguese Madeira Islands in the North Atlantic Ocean northwest of the African mainland
  3. Mauritania
  4. Azores

Note that the new (2011) country of South Sudan is not in North Africa.
