Terumi Miyazoe is an associate professor of e-learning and distance education at Tokyo Denki University and Open University, Japan. She earned an MA in TESOL (UK: University of London) and an MA in Distance Education (Canada: Athabasca University) through online distance learning courses taken from Japan. Her research interests include online learning, distance learning, and foreign language education. BA and MA in Comparative Culture (Japan: International Christian University, focusing on French modern philosophy and text theories). PhD in educational technology (Japan: International Christian University, focusing on online learning and learning variables).

Dr. Insung Jung and Dr. Katsuaki Suzuki were her PhD dissertation advisers at International Christian University, to which Dr. Suzuki is also an alumnus. Together with Dr. Terry Anderson of Athabasca University, she has been writing and presenting since around 2009.
