LearnOnline.Health.nz is a vocational training resource hub for New Zealand’s health practitioners brought to you by the Ministry of Health . The site is managed and supported by e-learning specialists, Kineo. We welcome health-related organisations to use LearnOnline as an e-learning platform.

LearnOnline is designed to enable multiple stakeholders such as the Ministry of Health, Nursing Council of New Zealand, Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners, education and training providers and District Health Boards to have access to best-of-breed e-learning functionality and learning activities. These range from induction programmes at individual DHBs to nationwide professional development programmes such as immunisation, antenatal screening, infection control and hepatitis C - without having to replicate the technical investment for each project.

One of the benefits of establishing an e-learning hub for the sector, rather than individual web sites, is that learner communities often overlap. A second key benefit is that a shared services approach reduces the duplication of investment, particularly with e-learning tools but also courseware design and development throughout the public sector.

Courses can be targeted for specific communities and groups of health professionals. In addition each course or set of courses can be themed to reflect the provider’s brand or preferences. For example, the antenatal courses are from the National Screening Unit. An individual District Health Board may use the service and have their own courses with their own branding.
