South Georgia is an island in the South Atlantic Ocean about 170 kilometres (110 mi) long and 2 to 40 km (1.2 to 25 miles) wide. It is the largest island in the territory of South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands.
It is nothing to to with the country of Georgia on the Europe-Asia boundary or the state of Georgia in the United States.
