The Atlantic Ocean is the second-largest of the world's oceanic divisions; with a total area of about 106.4 million square kilometres (41.1 million square miles). It covers approximately one-fifth of the World's surface.
The Atlantic Ocean occupies an area between the Americas to the west, and Europe and Africa to the east. We take it to extend to the North Pole and to Antarctica.
It is connected to the Pacific Ocean in the southwest, the Indian Ocean in the southeast.
