University of Auckland
The University of Auckland (Te Whare Wananga o Tamaki Makaurau) supports e-learning through its LMS CECIL.
The university was founded in 1883 and is now New Zealand's largest university. It is ranked among the world’s top 100 universities by the Times Higher Education - Quacquarelli Symonds (THE-QS) World Rankings of Universities (position 65 in 2008).
The University of Auckland main office is in Auckland, New Zealand. Five campuses are located here.

E-learning
- The University encourages and promotes the development of flexible modes of teaching and learning, the use of new teaching technologies and computer assisted learning management systems.
- The proprietary CECIL (for Computer Supported Learning) Learning Management System, developed by University staff and students in the Faculty of Business and Economics, provides electronic course-centered information and communication support for students and academic staff. The Library website enables students to access a broad range of electronic learning support resources on a 24-7 basis, in addition to the print resources available through on-site visits.
- The Centre for Academic Development provides a centralised service to the University community offering consultation, design and development of digital learning resources. The website of the eLearning Design and Development Group within the Centre for Academic Development hosts an eLearning showcase. CAD also researches e-learning.
CAD takes care of the professional development training for staff and students of the University. It delivers a variety of workshops in two main categories - IT Literacy and Academic Practice.

International Organisations Membership
The University of Auckland has a strong international focus and is the only New Zealand member of Universitas 21 and the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) – international consortia of research-led universities.
Today more than 4,000 students from 93 countries choose to study here, while the University’s 360° Auckland Abroad Student Exchange programme enables New Zealand students to spend one or two semesters at one of the University’s more than 90 university exchange partners around the world.
