Professor David Vincent is Pro-Vice-Chancellor at the UK Open University, with responsibility for the development of the University's strategy, and for the operation of the planning procedures which implement it. He handles governmental negotiations and liaison with the devolved bodies that develop policy and fund higher education in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. He is responsible for regional and international policy, and for the operation of the OU Development Office and the OU/BBC partnership. He is also President of the European Association of Distance Teaching Universities (EADTU).

A Professor of Social History, David is the author or editor of fifteen books and numerous articles on British and European social history.

Prior to his appointment David was Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Keele University. He is a Visiting Fellow of Kellogg College, Oxford.
