The BI Norwegian School of Management (BI; Handelshøyskolen BI) supports both face-to-face and online business degrees.

According to its web site, BI was founded in 1943 as a consultancy that offered evening classes in accounting. It has since grown into one of the largest business schools in Europe and the second-largest academic institution in Norway. Its programmes are offered in English and Norwegian.

BI offers 16 different bachelor programmes, MBA studies, eight master’s studies and five doctoral programmes, as well as continuing/further education and web-based studies. The main campus is located in Oslo, Norway, though students may choose from five other study locations as well, in Bergen, Trondheim, Stavanger, Kristiansand, and Drammen.

In June 2009 BI had over 18,000 active students enrolled, of whom 9,500 studied part-time. Of 692 employees, 329 were academic and 363 were administrative. There were also 630 part-time lecturers. (Source: http://www.bi.no/Content/Article____67953.aspx)

BI is involved in numerous international collaborations and partnerships. There is, for example, a BI campus at Fudan University, China; BI also offers executive programmes in cooperation with ESCP-EAP, IFP School in Paris, France and Nanyang Business School, Singapore. In 1999 BI established the ISM University of Management and Economics in Kaunas, Lithuania, in collaboration with Innovation Norway.
