University
A University is an institution (public or private) providing tertiary-level education with undergraduate and postgraduate degrees issued in their name.
In many countries including the UK and USA there are several institutions, including prestigious ones, who satisfy the above definition of universities but which do not have the name "University" (or its equivalent in the local language) as part of their name. We would categorise these as "Universities".
Due to legal regulations in most countries, it is less common to have institutions with "University" in their name who are not universities according to our definition - such as the NHS University. However, there are some national initiatives (also multinational and international ones) including the name "University" which are not, according to our definition. Nevertheless, there are some which are, such as the Arab Open University.
