The Technical University of Graz (Graz University of Technology or Technische Universität Graz; TU Graz, or TUG) was founded in 1811 by Archduke Johann. TUG, as the university is called by its students, is a public university.

According to its web site, the university seeks:

...to enable its students to acquire technical knowledge and education of high quality but also to be a place of lifelong learning.

In 2007 TU Graz had roughly 9,700 students enrolled (of whom 14% were international) and over 1,200 academic staff. The university has three campuses in Graz, Austria.
