National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning

The National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) was formed to enhance the quality of engineering education in India via joint development video and web-based courses. NPTEL is a collaboration of seven IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) and IISc (Indian Institute of Science_ Bangalore. Between 2003-2007, content for 110 video and 129 web courses in engineering/science and humanities were developed.

Member organisations include the Indian Institutes of Technology, i.e. IIT Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee; as well as the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
The project was overseen by the Department of Secondary and Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi.
