NextEd (NextEd.com) was founded in 1998 as a multinational provider of web-based hosting and delivery services for the "education marketplace." It sought to partner with educational service providers based mainly in North America, the UK and Australia to develope and market web-based courses to students around the world.

By 2000, it offered 15 fully online degrees serving rouhgly 2,500 students, in topics ranging from business to nursing. Course materials were drawn primarily from Australian universities such as the University of Southern Queensland and the Australian Catholic University. NextEd's target client base was Asia.

NextEd had local offices in the US, Australia, China, Hong Kong and Malaysia, and partnerships with 25 higher education institutions and commercial training providers worldwide.
