The Bulgarian Virtual University (BVU) was launched in 2004 as a a nation-wide portal to Bulgarian higher education institutions and their online learning environments. It is one of several initiatives designed to promote the use of e-learning and technology in general across Bulgaria. Under the supervision of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, Bulgaria's "iUniversity" programme

Little information about BVU is available in English, and problems with its web site do cast doubt as to its present-day operations.
