The ASEAN University Network (AUN) was founded in November 1995 by ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asia Nations) member countries. It initially included 13 universities but now counts 20 members. As noted on the ASEAN web site:

The main objective of the AUN is to strengthen the existing network of co-operation among leading universities in ASEAN, by promoting co-operation and solidarity among ASEAN scholars and academicians, developing academic and professional human resource, and promoting information dissemination among ASEAN academic community.

The Office of the AUN Secretariat is in Bangkok, Thailand.
