First Bulgarian School

First Bulgarian Online School (FBOS) was established on September 15, 2005. The mission of FBOS is to provide distance learning education in Bulgarian language, history, literature, geography for children and adults world wide.

FBOS launched the first e-learning system tailored to the specific needs of Bulgarian communities around the world. Using state of the art technology and employing experienced teachers from Bulgaria, FBOS managed to create an effective e-learning system that meets the unique needs of Bulgarian expatriates.

The focal point of the FBOS virtual educational system is the Virtual Classroom where teachers and students meet every week for their lessons in real time. Thus teachers address every issue and question in class and students build their knowledge on a solid platform.

Throughout the years of operation FBOS has tested the system and improved its educational methods to provide the best learning experience for students. According to FBOS,

"Our experience showed that only after 12 weeks of classes students make significant progress towards improving their language and grammar skills. We can confidently state that FBOS is the best alternative for children of Bulgarian expatriates to learn their native language, literature, and history."

In September 2006, FBOS launched Bulgarian as a foreign language program. This program is tailored for students of all ages who would like to learn Bulgarian language. The first course starts with the Cyrillic alphabet and has no requirements for prior knowledge of Bulgarian. Students who had studied Bulgarian and would like to continue their language studies are placed in a level corresponding to their knowledge.
