More details

The Distance Education Centre (DECTUG) or Centrum Edukacji Niestacjonarnej at Gdansk University of Technology was considered one of the leading e-learning centers in Poland and was set up in 1996/1997, when it also began e-learning. DECTUG has been founded by the Rector of TUG as an experimental didactic unit for realisation of pilot - national and international - projects connected with utilisation of computer networks and multimedia technologies in distance education (DE). According to Rector Regulation the Distance Education Centre was dissolved on December 31st, 2004.

DECTUG offered a range of alternative methods of access to the course materials:

  1. Distribution of the course modules material via World Wide Web, e-mail, CD-ROMs.
  2. Accessing the course modules material from DECTUG or from co-operating Distance Education Study Centres.
  3. Using printed material on special demand.

Its e-learning activity started early on and the first training was offered for students from secondary schools.
